A creative frontend engineer with over a decade of commercial experience.

The Labour Party → Web developer

Working within the digital campaigns team for the 2019 general election to build various micro sites and tools to help clarify Labour policies to the public.

June 2019 - October 2019 (contract role)

Axe Trading (via Blue Hat) → React engineer and designer

Built a new internal tool to reduce manual processes in place to test the trading market. Tech stack included: React with TypeScript, React Context/Hooks, Styled Components with Styled System, and some use of Web Sockets.

August 2019 (contract role)

Imagination → React engineer

Working in the Ford team to help build various apps to assist 4 activations at a Go Electric event in Frankfurt. A registration web-app used to register users and scan QR codes, an iPad app that scans the QR codes at the activations and associate the users with the souvenirs, and a third app to retrieve the user image from an activation involving greenscreen and depth scanning of faces. Tech stack included React and Socket.io to connect all apps for live updates.

January 2019 - May 2019 (contract role)

Borrow A Boat (via Blue Hat) → React engineer and designer

A completely new build for the company website - the brief being to "be like the AirBnb for borrowing boats worldwide". I designed and built a React/Redux web app with the API built in parallel using Django Rest Framework.

March 2017 - December 2018

Pod Point → Frontend web/app engineer

  • Pod Point App - A fresh new build of main Pod Point app, downloaded by over 60,000 users, to find charge points, charge your car, view your charge history and various new features. Built with reusable UI components (React Native, Redux).
  • Checkout Web App - A responsive web app designed to streamline the complex process of purchasing and installing a charge point (React JS, Redux, Prismic CMS).
  • Main Website - Rebuilt with highly flexible CMS components to enable the marketing team to build pages (Vanilla JS, Craft CMS).
  • UI Toolkit - A new, well documented prototyping framework to align the UI across the various products (Functional CSS, SASS, BEM).

January 2015 - March 2017

iris Worldwide → Frontend engineer

As a Frontend Developer I used JavaScript/jQuery, CSS/SASS with SMACSS methodology - working alongside DotNet/Umbraco or Ruby on Rails developers to produce complex, interactive and database driven sites or applications. For the backend of smaller content managed websites I created WordPress templates, and for static builds I used Handlebars and compiler tools to streamline my workflow.

Clients included: BMW Mini, Samsung, Dominos, Adidas, Nectar, Shell, Value Retail.

April 2013 - January 2015

Karmarama → Frontend engineer

I used JavaScript/jQuery and CSS/SASS, working alongside designers and UX to build micro-sites and campaign pages, predominantly custom theming WordPress for small websites. For the more complex builds I would collaborate with back-end developers on platforms such as Drupal, custom PHP and Zend.

Clients included: BT, Honda, Costa, B&Q, British Gas, Fairtrade, Jus Rol, Two Fingers Brewing.

When I'm not building software, I enjoy using my hands.. from DIY, furniture making and eco building to a spot of life drawing, painting.

Dancing is another thing I can't get enough of. Right now Contemporary Ballet and Latin Hustle are my favourites.
